APPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS UPGRADE FUNDING CLOSING SOON IN BRAND

30 January 2024

Federal Member for Brand Madeleine King MP today urged all public schools in Brand to apply for funding of up to $250,000 from the Albanese Government to upgrade or build vital infrastructure.

Round 2 of the Government’s Schools Upgrade Fund (SUF) will provide $215.8 million in funding for public schools. There are 49 schools in Brand that are eligible to apply for School Upgrade Funding.

Grants can be used for large scale capital works such new classrooms, building refurbishments and playgrounds.

The commitment builds on the $53.6 million in School Upgrade Funding the Albanese Government announced earlier this year.

Government schools in Brand with the greatest need will be prioritised.

The Federal Government will work with State and Territory education departments to distribute project funding.

Eligible schools in Brand can apply for funding at www.education.gov.au/schools-upgrade-fund.

Applications close at 11.59 pm AEDT on Thursday 29 February 2024.

Minister King said education was key to building a better future for the children and young people of Rockingham, Kwinana and beyond.

Minister King is the Federal Resources Minister and Minister for Northern Australia.

“I got a great start in life thanks to the brilliant teachers I had at Safety Bay Primary School, Rockingham Beach Primary School and Safety Bay Senior High School,” Minister King said.

“A good education can change lives. But only the Albanese Government understands the value of properly funding our State schools.

“This extra in funding will build new classrooms, school buildings and playgrounds.

“I encourage all schools in Brand to apply.”
